n.p.: the author, 1936. Single 8.5x11 inch sheet which has had the bottom two inches neatly removed; text is all typed with three words added in pencil to one sentence; paper clip rust mark at upper left corner. Frantic letter to Ray (perhaps Ray Dunne) typed in December 1936 on the need for funds and "elaborate technical arrangements" for Trotsky's safety once he has arrived in Vera Cruz. "The Norwegian government deceived and betrayed everybody, so that not even L.D.'s closest people knew he was being carried off." Urges funds to be sent to Suzanne LaFollette, and reminds Ray that he can use the name of the American Committee for the Defense of Leon Trotsky, "with its imposing composition," to raise funds from "all kinds of people." 17 lines of text, apart from salutation and conclusion. L.D. stands for Lev Davidovich, Trotsky's given name.
