London: Richard Bentley, 1854. 1st ed., remainder issue, with the titlepage of vol. II removed and the contents leaves bound at the beginning; first issued in 1853. 2 vols. in 1 (as issued). [ix]-xix, viii, 311; 344pp. Orig. cloth. Hinges cracked, extremities rubbed, else a very good copy. Sabin 92810. Staton & Tremaine 3213. The author, a brother of Agnes Strickland, came to Upper Canada in 1825, served the Canada Company from 1828 to 1831 and settled at Lakefield near Peterborough. This work describes his experiences as land agent and settler from 1825 til 1851.
