1945. Illustrated by photographs, maps, cartoons. 5-column center fold newspaper. All April issues are 14.5 x 11.25 inches; all May and June issues are 18.5 x 12.5 inches. pp. 4-8 each. Good. All are toned and range from good to very good (some edge chipping, one ink stain, Osaka issue missing a cut out. 'Shoe-string' published by French printers 1918-19 for the AEF (American Expeditionary Forces) during World War I with editor Harold Ross and illustrator Cyrus Baldridge (founder and co-founder of New Yorker Magazine), the 8-page weekly had a circulation of over half a million readers. During World War II issues were often prepared and published near the fronts of European operating theaters such as Paris and Germany. Early resumes of important uniformed journalists, cartoonists and soldiers would grace the newspaper's history. It continues daily today in print, electronic format and multiple digital editions serving US military service members overseas. Will consider single issues ..
