About This Item

Waltham, Massachusetts: Blaisdell Publishijg Company, 1966. Soft cover. Good. Kittredge Paperback in Good Condition. Second Edition 1966. First published 1941. Edited by George Lyman Kittredge; Revised by Irving Ribner. Clean and unmarked, toned pages, upper corner has light wear, binding tight and solid. A comidie of double identities--cover illustration depicting this. For half a century George Lyman Kittredge enjoyed world-wide fame as a Shakespeare scholar imparting to Harvard University students his own enthusiasm for Shakespeare and gave lectures at the University of London, with several honorary degrees from prestigious universities. The introductory text and explanatory notes in the Kittredge edition is considered a major landmark of American scholarship and Professor Ribner has retained the bulk of them in the new revised edition, bringing them up to date in light of textual, literary, and historical research of the years since the initial publication. 8x5.25". 104 pages. 1966, Blaisdell Publishing Company.

Synopsis

Another case of mistaken identity from the king of the plot twist, Twelfth Night tells the tale of the beautiful young Viola who is separated from her twin brother, Sebastian, when their ship is lost at sea. Believing Sebastian to be dead Viol poses as a man and enters service with the Duke Orisino. When Olivia, the woman that Orisino loves, falls for his messenger "boy" Viola and she in turn falls for the Duke the stage is set for a classic Shakespearean love triangle.
