Gilt-stamped leather-covered baords, all edges gilt, satin pagemarker. Issued without dustjacket. In softcover slipcase. The slipcase has bumped corners, a two inch closed split at one edge, small closed edge tear and beginning edge toning; it's in Good condition. The book's upper board cornesr are lightly bumped, but still sharp. Unread copy in Near Fine condition. Hardcovers. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Naipaul's tenth and perhaps his most read non-fiction book.

A Turn in the South is a travelogue of the American South written by Nobel Prize-winning author V. S. Naipaul. His first book about the United States is a revealing, disturbing, elegiac book about the hidden life and culture of the American South — from Atlanta to Charleston, Tallahassee to Tuskegee, Nashville to Chapel Hill. The book was published in 1989 and is based upon the author's travels in the southern states of the U.S..
