Fanny Kellogg, Grafton Press, NY, 1904; First Edition; copy #167 of a Limited Edition of 250; 8vo, 46 pages; illustrated; tan cloth; front board paper title label inset. Diary of Tryphena Ely White, born March 25, 1784 in West Springfield, MA, who at age 21 moved with her family to New York State, Onandaga County, Town of Camillus, marrying Frederick Kellogg of Cayuga County in 1813. Fascinating first-hand account of the day to day life of a woman in 1805 New York State. Includes a tipped-in fold out genealogical table of Tryphena’s ancestry; a transcript of the 1805 eulogy given at the funeral of Tryphena’s grandfather, deacon Jonathan White, delivered by the aging Rev. Joseph Lathrop, D.D. of West Springfield, MA; a transcript of a letter sent by Tryphena’s brother Harold to younger brother Elijah after having visited Tryphena at her deathbed; and the text of the deed for the tract of land in Camillus settled by Tryphena’s father Joseph in 1804. Illustrated with a tipped-in facsimile of a page from the original diary, and a photo of the old mill site on Joseph White’s homestead. Privately published at Grafton Press by Fanny Kellogg, granddaughter of Tryphena. Inscribed on the f.f.e.p. to Alice Kellogg Smith from Alice Knapp Kellogg, Dec. 10, 1930. Very Good Plus, minor cloth wear at the top extremity of the spine panel. Crisp, clean, bright, binding tight, sound and square.
