About This Item
n.p.: n.p., 1960. Reprint. An unrecorded reprint of Alexander Radcliffe's pamphlet originally published in 1943 in Beardsden, Scotland. After emphatically stating "that we have no sympathy with anti-Semitism," Radcliffe argues that Jesus was not a Jew and that "Jews live for this world: their whole concern is Mammon. Amassing fortunes is their Alpha and Omega. To get rich quick and to worship at the Golden Calf is their aim in life."

Alexander Ratcliffe (1888-1947) was the virulently anti-Catholic founder of the Scottish Protestant League and a late convert to fascism and anti-Semitism. In his earlier paper, "The Protestant Advocate," he published support for the American Ku Klux Klan, primarily for their anti-Catholic stance, and became one of the earliest Holocaust deniers. His most famous work, "The Truth about the Jews (1943) was published the same year as this pamphlet. See Holmes in Traditions of Intolerance.

Side-stapled, self-wraps, photostat reproduction, 12 leaves printed rectos only. We acquired this reprint with an original copy lacking its staples, which were ostensibly removed for this printing. But there is no publishing imprint and no other editions found in OCLC, so we assume that the previous owner privately distributed these to sympathetic readers. Only two copies of the original edition found in OCLC, thus scarce. Not in SINGERMAN.
