About This Item
New York: W.W. Norton & Co., 1992. First Printing, First U.S. Edition. . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. The fifteenth novel in this now classic historic series of the English Navy in the late 18th century. Captain Jack Aubrey has been dispatched to restore order after the capture of a British whaler by a local Tonga chief at the instigation of the French. Stowed away on Aubrey's ship is a female convict escaped from an Australian penal colony. Her presence creates dangerous jealousies and tension aboard ship, including the possibility she may be a French spy. Light foxing and soiling on test edges, o/w text and boards are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. The dustjacket shows a small corner crease on the dj's front flap, minor surface and edge wear, no tears, no chipping, not price-clipped. A collectable copy.
