About This Item
New York: George H. Doran Co., (1920). First editions. Illustrated by Harold Sichel. "The simple and very touching story of a French monarch who becomes estranged from his queen and of the quest he undertakes on the very eve of Christmas -- a quest which brings him a longed-for heir and restores to him the love of his lady" (from the dust jacket flap). 8vo gilt-stamped purple cloth. Minor rubs to spine tips and corners, light offset from jacket flaps to endpapers, some spotting to verso of frontis and few small stains; otherwise bright and near fine in good or better dust jacket with spine faded and several tears internally mended with archival tape -- but still attractive. Scarce Rinehart title, scarcer still in dust jacket.
