Black and white illustrated plates. Light foxing and tanning to pages and plates. More prominent to text block edges and free endpapers. Hinges are moderately cracked with netting exposed but binding remains firm. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Mabel Lucie Attwell. 311pp. One of the stories from the early 20th century intended to guide the younger reader on their way in life. This one has 7 monochrome plates by Mabel Lucie Attwell (there should be 8), the cover illustration is in colour, again by Attwell. This is an early work by Attwell dating from a time before her trademark style was established, Chambers were one of her early employers. There is some wear to the blue cloth covered boards and the ends papers are lightly tanned. There is a Salvation Army presentation book plate from 1919 inside the front board. Clean and sound apart from the one missing plate. Available for prompt dispatch from the UK

Heavy foxing throughout. Boards have been heavily rub worn with heavy shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a heavily frayed and spine ends are crushed, with some small splits and chips. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

Blue cloth with black titles and pictures to spine and front cover. B/w plates by Attwell. A few light marks to covers. Prize plate, that has been partially ripped out (So surface paper damage now) to front pastedown. Roughly 1" tear to top of 1st page along spine. Foxing throughout. 8 b/w plates present, including frontis. Still a nice book for its age.
