Pages are moderately tanned and foxed throughout, heavier at end-papers, paste-downs and text-block edges. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout, binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Cloth has heavy damp and dust stains. Mild crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Gilt lettering is darkened. Unclipped jacket has moderate edge-wear with chips, tears and creasing. Moderate tanning to spine.

The dust jacket has a 1 inch tear with associated chipping at the top of the front fold over creases, has a tear across the centre of the spine section, and is suntanned and Fox. The top edge of the text block has faded from the original bright purple, and shows signs of foxing. The book itself, is in very good order. Of interest to Victorian judaica collectors is the signature of Norman Rosenthal at the top right of the front free end page.
