London: Thomas Nelson and Sons, 1913. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Good, lacking the jacket. Blue cloth, rubbed at the bottom edge with some rubbing through to the boards, stained at the top-left of the front board and head of the spine. Bound with a forward lean, front hinge cracked after the title page, relatively firm otherwise. The first novel to feature Bentley's detective Philip Trent, adapted into the 1952 film starring Michael Wilding and Orson Welles.
