Boston: Little, Brown, 1938. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 10" by 7". NC Wyeth. The first edition of this lovely historical travelogue. Illustrated throughout, with plates by N.C Wyeth. Loosely inserted is the extremely scarce extra suite of plates (all fourteen) in their original envelope. Lacking original parchment dustwrapper and slipcase. This work is the limited 'Arundel' edition printed on rag paper and bound in natural finish cloths. The work is numbered 448 of 1075 and is signed by both Kenneth Roberts and NC Wyeth. Written by Kenneth Roberts, an historical novel writer from Maine. He was extremely fascinated with the history of the United States and its colonization. The illustrator, N C Wyeth created over 3,000 paintings and illustrated over 112 books in his lifetime. He was best known for his works on the Scribner Classics series, the first of which was Treasure Island. In a quarter buckram binding with cloth covered boards. Externally, generally smart with some fading to board edges and to spine. Handling marks and small amount of bumping to the spine, mostly to the head and tail. Rubbing to the spine label at edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean throughout. Very Good
