About This Item
New York: Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2007. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Very Good/Near Fine. Poet and novelist Johnson's seventh novel won the National Book Award for fiction in 2007. Set during the Vietnam War, It is the story of William "Skip" Sands, CIA, engaged in psychological operations against the Vietcong and the disasters that happen to him. It is also the story of two brothers, Bill and James Houston, who drift out of Arizona and into a war where the lines between fact and disinformation, between reality and delusion have been erased. It is finally a story of human folly rare in our literature. Bottom end of spine bumped, with single, quarter-inch tear; previous owner's name in upper corner of front end page, o/w boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. The dustjacket shows only minor surface and edgewear, no tears, no chipping or creasing, not price-clipped. A very decent copy of an important Vietnam War novel.
