About This Item
Michigan: Wayne State University Press. Very Good in Good dust jacket. 1976. Reprint Edition. Hardcover. 0814315704 . Xantus, an expatriate Hungarian, became a prominent natural scientist. He describes an 1851 trip through southern California, including Indians, conditions, natural science, etc. This English translation of the 1859 original edition in Hungarian was done by Theodore Schoenman and Helen Benedek Schoenman, and there is an index as well as useful editorial notes in the rear matter. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no owner names, and no bookplates in the publisher's original brown cloth covers. The dust jacket is rippled but with no chips, tears, or markings. The dust jacket is now in a protective, removable, acetate cover. Ref: Howes X 2 for the original edition.; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 213 pages .
