Printed in an edition limited to 150 copies of which this is one of 50 numbered and signed special copies with two additional pochoir illustration in a back pocket. Fine in near fine slipcase. Written and stenciled with forty pochoir illustrations. Each illustration is in a sense an original, for the colors applied by pochoir consist of artists' watercolor applied through stencils directly to the paper, in this case by Peter Allen himself. The route that Robert Louis Stevenson described in his "Travels with a Donkey" a hundred years earlier has been retraced by Peter Allen over a period of years. Allen's diary extracts, and 40 vividly colored pochoir illustrations, bring to life the rugged character of this little known "département" of southern France.
