New York: D. Appleton & Co., 1853. Hardcover. Very Good. Two volume set. 24.5 x 15.5 cm. Octavo. xxii 424pp, iv 452pp. Color frontispieces in each volume. Vol 1 with 14 plates, one folding, and 2 maps, one folding. Volume 2 with 15 plates and 2 maps, one of which is fold-out. Plates include color lithographs. There are additional in-text wood engravings by J. W. Orr from drawings by James M'Donough. Rebound into 3/4 dark red leather and cloth boards. Gilt spine lettering. The original spine of each volume is affixed to the front fixed endpaper, and a cover gilt illustration from the original is affixed to rear endpaper. Bookplate of previous owner in each volume. Outer front hinge of volume one is worn. Handsome set. Reissue of "Nicaragua, its People" published in 1852. Sabin 89999.
