The first edition thus in one volume of the translated travel diary of German philosopher Hermann von Keyserling, in a charming school prize binding. The first edition thus to be published in one volume of J. Holroyd Reece's translation of this travelogue by Hermann von Keyserling. The true first edition was issued in 1925 in two volumes. The author shares his philosophical ideas and his travels through Asia, America, and Southern Europe in this diary, his best-known work. Hermann von Keyserling was a Baltic German philosopher whose approach to philosophy was essentially non-academic, and his ideas, which centred on the theme of spiritual regeneration, were often platitudinous and obscure. In a charming Kelly & Sons signed binding. In a school prize half calf binding, signed by Kelly and Sons, with five raised bands and gilt tooling to the front and rear board as well as marbled endpapers and gilt to the edges. Externally smart with some shelf wear and a minor rubbing to the spine, as well as some minor scuffing to the extremities. The tail of the spine has slightly faded. With the school prize bookplate to the front pastedown, dated 1932. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Very Good
