Gard & Reetz travel the Fox River Valley, comparing its state then with conditions as described by noted Wisconsin historian Reuben Gold Thwaites's in his book Down Historic Waterways, recounting his 1887 canoe trip down the Fox. The authors incorporate the third of Thwaites's book regarding the Fox, adding history, current observations, and commentary from many other sources. INSCRIBED by co-author Gard on the free endsheet: "For Hazel with all the good wishes possible now and forever! Sincerely Robert E. Gard December 16, 1973". Stated first edition (first printing). Hardcover, full tan cloth, brown titling. Light wear to book; jacket shows light rubbing, minor chipping, taped tear at head of spine, spine faded.
