First two leaves with paper reinforcement on verso, some paper repairs in corners. Spotting. Modern marbled paper boards, gilt spine with red label. From the library of Nils Fries, with his bookplate. According to a pencil notation by Nils Fries dr. Eric Waller was one of the earlier owner of this copy. VD18 1162101X. A very rare handbook of the botanical classification system of Pitton de Tournefort, compiled by his pupil Christopher Bernhard Valentini (1695-1728). One of the books that were studied by the young Charles Linnaeus. The preface is written by Michael Bernhard Valentini, father of Christopher Bernhard and a famous collector and professor of Medicine in Giessen.
