London: Jennings and Chaplin, 1833. First edition. Leather. Very Good. 8" by 5" . J. D. Harding. The first edition of this travelogue of Italy by Thomas Roscoe, beautifully depicted in drawings by J. D. Harding. A travelogue of Italy in 'The Landscape Annual' for 1833, originally published as stand alone volume in 1831 with illustrations by S. Prout. Exploring the beautiful scenery of the country from the author's travels, through towns and cities. Beautifully depicted with a frontispiece, additional vignette title page, and twenty-four full page engravings by J. D. Harding. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's full grain morocco binding. Externally sound with minor shelf wear, lightly rubbed to extremities of spine and boards, gentle darkening to the spine. Vernal A. Diggs bookplate to front pastedown, previous ownership ink inscription to front pastedown. Internally, binding generally firm with only frontispiece loose but present. Few minor spots scattered to the occasional leaf, particularly to the odd leaf of plate and protective tissue guard. Otherwise, pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with a frontispiece, additional vignette title page, and twenty-four additional full page engravings by J. D. Harding. Collated, complete.  Very Good
