They were accompanying Indian Commissioner Henry L. Ellsworth and his party on a tour.With a former owner's inscription to the front free endpaper.A smart and scarce early edition of this work by the author of 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow'. In a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Rubbing to back strip and boards, with small loss of leather to back strip tail. Front joint starting, but firmly held. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with spotting throughout and with tide marks to head of pages 27 to 112. Good
