Rubbed, text browned with some waterstaining, without the general title-page for "The Crayon Miscellany" or advertisements, else a very good copy. First American edition, second state, published shortly after the London edition. 274pp. 1 vols. 12mo. The romanticized version of Irving's journey across the Indian territories of Oklahoma and the west in 1832. He travelled with four others through the western camps living among the Indians and frontiersmen and recording their lives and stories and collecting legends and folklore.
Irving's journal of the trip was published in the 1960's and shows a very different view of the journey. BAL 10140
