About This Item
Chicago: Quadrangle Books, 1964. Hardcover. Introduction by Bell Irvin Wiley. 8vo. Blue cloth, price-clipped pictorial dust jacket. xxv, 372pp. Numerous illustrations, maps. Very good/very good. Mild jacket edgewear. First edition, tight and nice, of this still quite useful directory of historical sites -- and with a nice autograph addition to boot: Tipped to the inner flyleaf is a Typed Note Signed from Cromie, 1p, 8" X 11", Grayslake, IL, 9 April 1976. Addressed to Ralph (likely Ralph G. Newman, 1912-2000, founder of Chicago's noted Abraham Lincoln Book Shop). Near fine. On personal letterhead, Cromie notes "I am honored to be asked to join the Stephen A. Douglas Association... The Little Giant deserves continuing recognition." Signed simply "Alice" in black ballpoint.
