Orig. published by Covici Friede in 1935, this is the first reprint edition from Grosset & Dunlap, identical to that edition & retaining the original internal illustrations & DJ art of Ruth Gannett, in 317 pages. From a single collector's estate, this hardcover book has beige textured cloth over boards with red design & lettering to front & spine. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean, with a tiny blue smudge to top edge of front board. Binding straight & strong. Pages show mild tanning to all pages, heavier around edges. Old gift inscription in neat pen dated 1938 inside front cover. The bottom-clipped DJ is VG+, marred only by spine fading, a ink smudge under the title "A" on front, & some mild chipping at corners/lower spine. Beautifully protected in new mylar cover.
