About This Item
Tight, square spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Very little shelf-wear to the book. Some edge-wear and very subtle rubbing to the jacket. Jacket design by John Sposato. Theatre photos by Gerry Goodstein. The famously 'double-voiced' Fierstein made his acting debut in Andy Warhol's Pork in 1971 at Ellen Stewart's La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club; seven years later the same venue produced the actor/playwright's International Stud, the first act of what would eventually become Torch Song Trilogy, the play the New York Times went on to call a 'sincere but sentimentalized view of transvestite extremes.' This edition was designed by Fierstein, who studied painting at Pratt, and his author photo is by camp portraitist Kenn Duncan, who also took memorable shots of Baryshnikov, Eartha Kitt, Joe Dallesandro, Joan Rivers, Lily Tomlin, and many others. 149 pp.
