Magnificent original graphite drawing of the famous duo, with dedication to Pierre Tchernia, "Monsieur Cinéma".

Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse were born in the late 1930s under the pencil of Joseph Barbera and William Hanna. The two creators joined forces in 1957 to found the Hanna-Barbera animation company, the forerunner of the big studios: in addition to Tom and Jerry, they were responsible for many famous creations: Scooby Doo, Les Fous du volant, Satanas et Diabolo, Capitaine Caverne and La Famille Pierrafeu.

A fine provenance from a lover of cinema and cartoon studios: Pierre Tchernia.

"It's impossible not to love Pierre Tchernia, even if you force your naughty nature, because he's a man - what am I saying, he's a man, he's a child - a child whose hobby consists above all in sharing his pleasures, his tastes, his friendships with us" (Henri Jeanson, L'Aurore, December 24 1968).

For over twenty years, Pierre Tchernia hosted "Monsieur Cinéma" (1966-1988), mixing film extracts, interviews and games, on a set that featured all French actors and directors.

"I belong to the generation that went into television because the cinema wouldn't open its doors to us. And by going into television, we didn't know we were hurting the cinema we loved so much. [...] TV has robbed it of enough viewers that we're trying to give it back a little", Tchernia recounted in May 1987, who made friendship a cardinal virtue.

His friends included Lino Ventura and René Gosciny, who caricatured his imperator figure in five Asterix albums. He also helped us discover the productions of Walt Disney, Tex Avery and all those of the Hanna & Barbera studio, which he loved so much.

Le chat Tom et la souris Jerry sont nés à la fin des années 1930 sous le crayon de Joseph Barbera et William Hanna. Les deux créateurs s'associent en 1957 pour fonder la société d'animation Hanna-Barbera, l'ancêtre des grands studios de création : outre Tom et Jerry, elles auront à leur actif bon nombre des créations célèbres : Scooby Doo, Les Fous du volant, Satanas et Diabolo, Capitaine Caverne ou encore La Famille Pierrafeu.

Belle provenance d'un amoureux du cinéma et des studios de dessins animés : Pierre Tchernia.

" On ne peut, fût-ce en forçant sa vilaine nature, ne pas aimer Pierre Tchernia car c'est un homme - que dis-je, c'est un homme, c'est un enfant -, un enfant dont le passe-temps consiste avant tout à nous faire partager ses plaisirs, ses goûts, ses amitiés " (Henri Jeanson, L'Aurore, 24 décembre 1968). Pierre Tchernia anima durant plus de vingt ans " Monsieur cinéma " (1966- 1988), qui mêlait extraits de films, interviews et jeux, sur un plateau où défilèrent tous les acteurs et metteurs en scène français. " J'appartiens à cette génération qui a fait de la télévision parce que le cinéma ne nous ouvrait pas ses portes. Et en faisant de la télévision, nous ne savions pas que nous allions faire du mal à ce cinéma que nous aimions tant. [...] La télé lui a volé suffisamment de spectateurs pour qu'on tente de lui en rendre un peu ", racontera Tchernia en mai 1987, qui érigea l'amitié en vertu cardinale. Il s'honora notamment de l'affection de Lino Ventura et de René Gosciny, qui caricatura sa silhouette d'imperator dans cinq des albums d'Astérix. Avec lui, on découvrit également les productions de Walt Disney, de Tex Avery et toutes celles du studio Hanna & Barbera, qu'il affectionnait tant.
