About This Item

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Courage Books/Running Press Publishers, 2000. First Thus . Hardcover. VG/Near Fine. Kirk, Tim; Green, Michael. A magnificent guide to the world of J. R. R. Tolkien & Middle-earth, collecting essays & articles from both scholars & popular culture written since the 1950s, but offered here together for the first time. Extensive coverage of Tolkien fandom, with puzzles & a reading list, too! Orig. published in 1978, this is a 2000 edition, First Printing (First, thus), lavishly illustrations throughout the 192 pages with fabulous pen-and-ink sketches by Michael Green & full-color drawings by Tim Kirk. Hardcover 4to has blue cloth-covered boards lettered in gilt to spine. An Ex-Lib copy with minimal stamps & markings, this book is unusually clean & bright, but marred by an unsightly area of cloth loss to front board where an attempt was made to remove old library tape securing the DJ to book. Mild rubbing to extremities & corner bumping. Binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages white & unmarked, colors vivid. The unclipped DJ is Near Fine, having been protected under library mylar: just about flawless! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific); later orders, Weekends & holidays ship very next business day. Sorry: book is too large for expedited domestic or any international shipping without preapproval of extra postage (at least double per USPS rates).
