About This Item
About this Item: First Editions Library, Shelton Connecticut, 1974. Hardcover. Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: New. First edition Facsimile. Tobacco Road by Erskine Caldwell is an iconic American novel that is considered by many as a cross between Mark Twain and England s Henry Fielding. Tobacco Road is set in rural Georgia near Augusta in the depths of the depression. The story revolves round a family of poor sharecroppers and a sinful father who seeks redemption through the love of the land and the promise of "good soil". The story also revolves around the displacement of farmers by industrialization and mechanization, much like the 21st century. Book is NEW, sealed in its original plastic wrap. The size , weight, dust jacket, printing and every detail of the original 1932 first edition is identical. This is a fine addition to any fine library.
