Bound Brook, NJ: The Pentecostal Union (Pillar of Fire), 1912. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. much wear to tips, corners, and edges of the book, covers rubbed, mottled. First printing, no others noted. The place of publication is misspelled as Bound Bbook, New Jersey so perhaps a very early printing of the first edition. Alma Bridwell White (June 16, 1862 June 26, 1946) was the founder and a bishop of the Pillar of Fire Church, (a Methodist Arminian sect). In 1918, she became the first woman to become a bishop in the United States.She was associated with the Ku Klux Klan and was involved in feminism, anti-Catholicism, antisemitism, anti-Pentecostalism, racism, and hostility to immigrants. By the time of her death at age 84, she had expanded the sect to "4,000 followers, 61 churches, seven schools, ten periodicals and two broadcasting stations."--WikipediaContents Every effort is made to ship all books and other items within 24 hours.
