Twice filmed, with Maud Cressall playing the Venus in 1921 and Ava Gardner in 1948. Foolscap 8vo (17cm). [iv],192pp. Original brown cloth, ruled and lettered on front cover in black, and on spine in gilt; chocolate endpapers; spine a shade darkened; two corners lightly bruised; endpapers cracking at hinges, but otherwise very good.
