A tight and nice facsimile edition of this typically rags-to-riches young boy's yarn, first published in 1866 -- limited to 200 copies numbered (this #5) and signed in full in black fineline by Westgard. Alger scholar and editor Westgard (1944-2015) published several Alger titles in this bibliographically cryptic fashion, likely the 1970s. The true first edition in nice condition is very scarce and even this modern facsimile with low limitation quite uncommon.
