About This Item

London: Jonathan Cape & The Book Society, 1958. Very Good. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. Original textured blue linen, brown stamped panel, lettered in gilt. Top edge brown. Bruising to extremities, occasional fox spots. Else, clean and tight. In the wonderful illustrated dust jacket: gently toned, creasing and wear to spine ends, chipping to the middle of the spine. A nice copy of Ekert-Rotholz's sweeping novel following the lives of the Norwegian consul in Shanghai and his three daughters from 1925-55, via Norway, Bangkok, and Japan. Very good/ very good
