Map illustrated endpapers, showing a 1742 French navigation chart of the South Pacific. The text is illustrated with both colour and black-and-white reproductions of the author's artwork, on the left hand side of the book is the myth/tradition and on the right-hand side is an artwork representing the same. Orange coloured boards with black coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper, again by author, with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. "In Papua and New Guinea, where oral tradition is the cornerstone of culture, myths represent a continuing art form. In this book of legends collected from all parts of Papua and New Guinea, Glenys Kohnke has produced a work of considerable cultural significance. Time Belong Tumbuna is illustrated by means of her own paintings, drawings and sculptures inspired by the legendary heroes and heroines of the Tumbuna." -- from the front fold over panel blurb. Softening to the head and to the heel of the backstrip along with a little fading and some bumping to the book corners. Browning to the textblock edges and light age toning of the in eternal pages. A previous owner has used "whiteout" to cover their name to the top right-hand corner of the free front endpaper. A few stains to the first few pages of the book. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and there is some rubbing and creasing to both the dustwrapper edges and to the dustwrapper panels. The major damage has been caused by voracious insects  their efforts can be seen along the front fold over crease edge, the backstrip, the rear panel and a little to the rear fold over crease.
