On Feb 1 2021, a reader said:
Thunder Mountain is a surprise from beginning to end. You think you know what is going to happen, especially if you have read other Zane Grey books, but this one is different. The basic story is of three brothers, the Emersons, who come to Thunder Mountain seeking gold and discover something more--treachery, robbery, murder, vengeance, and for one brother love. From crooked gambling establishments to saloon after saloon, the miners were lured to squander their hard earned gold--the unscrupulous preyed on the unsuspecting or naive, the tenderfoot, the newcomer to the occupation of mining. But someone had to stand against these men, and Kalispel Emerson was the one to take on the task. This novel is full of characters who faithfully depict those who lived during these wild, tumultuous, harrowing circumstances known as "gold fever". Rough, raw, edgy, this book will earn you a new respect for Zane Grey as a writer.
