Original black cloth with gilt crest and red lettering stamped to the front board and gilt lettering and rules stamped to the spine. Top edge gold gilt. Heavily illustrated with plates from photos, including the frontispiece, and three folding maps. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. The map from p.464 has come loose, but is present with no tearing. The slightest bit of fading to the gilt on the spine, otherwise a tight and clean copy. Arctic Bibliography 41535. A narrative of Nansen's trip in 1913 from Norway through the Barents and Kara Seas, up the Yenisey River to Yeniseysk, then eastward overland to Vladivostok, returning overland to Europe. 1914
