Frontis map detached and laid in, otherwise contents sound and clean. Volume has been re-backed, with original front and rear board retained, spine cloth replaced. Arctic Bibliography 10949: "History of arctic exploration region by region, from early times to 1870; with concluding chapters on best route to the Pole, the scientific results of arctic exploration, and proceedings toward dispatch of a British Arctic Expedition in 1875." Scarce in the first edition.
