This United States expedition during the First International Polar Year, based at Fort Conger, Lady Franklin Bay, explored the north coast of Greenland from Cape Bryant to Cape Washington, the interior and west coast of Grinnell Land, and extended the mapping of Hayes Sound. Includes struggles with ice at sea, sledge journeys, life of the men on the march and in camp, and the geography of the territory. Appendices include Ethnology, Natural History, Ornithology, and Botany.
