The author spent several months touring the European wine regions of France, Italy, Austria, and the Rhinelands studying viticultural methods. The text discusses how European practices could be applied to American grape growing. A "Manual for the Sulphering of Diseased Vines" (3rd edition) is found on pp. 211-283, with text by Henri P.I. Mares. Gabler (2nd ed.) 20340; Amerine & Borg 1414.
