London: Grant Richards 1903. 16mo (3 1/4 x 5"), striped cloth, [95]p., slight bit of cover soil and hinges expertly and almost unnoticeably strengthened, clean, tight VG+. First edition of Number 21 of the Dumpy Book series (of which Little Black Sambo was #4). Printed on one side of the paper, each page of text faces a full page illustration. Featuring 24 charming full page color illustrations by Mary Tourtel who went on to create the character of Rupert the Bear. The story stars three humanized foxes who embark on an adventure to save a princess. Wonderful. Very scarce.

London: Grant Richards, 1903. Very good plus.. First edition of the story of young humanized foxes Ringoe, Bingoe, and Lubilee, as they try to rescue a fox princess. Mary Tourtel would go on to create RUPERT the bear as a comic strip in 1920. 5'' x 3''. Original green publisher's cloth binding. Full-page color illustrated frontispiece with color illustrations throughout. 91 pages, printed one side only. Mild soiling and edgewear to boards. Hinges expertly strengthened, occasional tiny foxing to leaves. Sound and bright.
