Hardcover. Very Good/None, as issued. New York, Clarke, Given and Hooper, 1888, Second edition, University Editon. Clean, tight 8vo, 454pp, quarter calf with marblized boards. Tips somewhat bumped and scuffed. Two-inch split to leather on top corner of spine top, some brown stains to leather spine. Front hinge is mostly loose, but the book is worth fixing, back hinge is tight. Small f.o. plate on the second front endpaper. Pastedowns and endpapers are burgundy and gray marbelized paper. Some illustrations. Very nice shape for age. A very scarce and important work about exploration of the Nile's ruins and archaeological sites by donkey and dahabeeyah in the 1880s. Original work was written in 1877 and was quite expensive at that time, this edition was published to be "cheaper" for students and public alike.
