About This Item

From the back DJ cover: "The real history of man," Max Miller once wrote, "is the history of religion." To understand the forms and dorces of a nation's life, one needs to know something of its spiritual heritage. For it is only as we develop a "solemn sense of God's superintending providence" that we can match the challenge of our own time. It is no different with a Church.

There are chapters on beginnings, missions, slavery struggle, problems and opportunities, women in the conference, the search for unity, and more.

Book - Very Good condition. Maroon cloth over boards with gold text on spine. Very minimal edge/corner wear. Light soiling/spotting to closed book page edges. End papers are maps. Text is clean and binding is very good. There is a bit of "grandma's sachet" smell in most of the book and a very few pages at the back still have a bit of old book smell.

Dust Jacket - Poor condition. The yellow on the front, spine, and back has darkened and has some soiling. The inside flaps are still a pretty bright yellow, but the back flap is complete loose. The jacket has many tears and chips, but it is now in a Brodart protective cover.

597 pages including Index.
