About This Item

Stated First Edition/First Printing with the "T03/76" code to the copyright page; A Near Fine book in a Near Fine dust jacket. SIGNED boldly by the author to the title page without inscription. This is a review copy with the publisher's review slip laid in; also laid in is the promotional postcard for the event where the book was signed, along with a receipt for the book purchased for the event (the book was signed at a "Four Blind Mice" signing event). An outstanding copy of this author's first novel; the review copy uncommon, particularly scarce signed. This copy is in near fine condition with a square, tight binding, bright spine lettering, and clean, white pages throughout; the book does show a minor crimp to the spine foot, some faint soiling to the exterior text block and boards, and a very light sunning to the board edges, else fine. Housed in a clean and bright near fine dust jacket that shows only some very light rubbing to the edges and one tiny crease to a flap corner, else fine. Overall, a lovely copy, very presentable and highly collectible, of Patterson's first; he would, of course, proceed to become perhaps the most popular mystery writer of the later 20th and early 21st Century; this copy made even more desirable by the review slip and the provenance for the signature. Not remaindered, not price clipped ($7.95 intact), not ex-library; in a protective Mylar cover and will ship in a sturdy box.

Synopsis

Three terrifying murders in the South culminate in a relentless manhunt in the North that centers on a ruthless assassin, the woman he loves, and the beloved leader he is hired to kill with extreme prejudice.
