About This Item

Nonesuch. Good. Circa 1827-1840, Various Edinburgh and London publishers, 10 x 14 inches tall x 1 inch thick green cloth hardbound, no dust jacket (as issued), gilt lettering ('Scottish Balads and Melodies') to spine, thirty sheet music scores, mostly 1830s, most with engraved title pages, one signed by the composer (Charles D'Albert), separately paginated. Slight soiling and minor to moderate rubbing and edgewear to covers, especially tips. Sporadic slight to moderate soiling and foxing to some of the works. Fairly heavy edge-chipping to a half dozen of the scores, and about an equal number with closed edge tears. One work, The Rover's Bride, is quite worn and torn. Edinburgh music publisher/seller stamps to the bottom margins of a number of the pieces. Despite these detractions, still remarkably good condition collection of rare ballads and melodies of the era. Contact us for a full list of titles and notes on the collection. Note that this is a heavy and oversized book, so additional postage will be required for international or priority orders. ~AA~ A unique collection of thirty rare pieces of sheet music, circa 1830s, including Scottish ballads and other popular songs of the era, some of which are not listed in OCLC.
