The first edition, first impression of this uncommon work, in the scarce publisher's original price clipped dust wrapper.This is the third of Enid Blyton's Malory Towers books, set in the fictional boarding school, based on Benenden School, where she sent her daughters.In this novel, an American girl moves to the school with ambitions of being a movie star, while singer Mavis ends up stranded outside the school gates at night in a raging storm.With a frontispiece and five full page illustrations from Stanley Lloyd.In total Blyton wrote six novels set at Malory Towers, published between 1946 and 1951. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price clipped dust wrapper. Externally, exceptionally bright. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with small mark to fore egge of front board. Dust wrapper bright, with tape repairs to the heads and tails of the wraps and back strip. Significant closed tear to tail of front wrap, repaired with tape to reverse. Small losses to head and tail of front wrap and back strip. Edgewear to head and tail of rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Near Fine
