This is the second volume of Machen's autobiography, the Welsh author and master of fantastic realism, a mystic of the 1890s and early 20th century. He is best known for his influential supernatural, fantasy, and horror fiction. Aleister Crowley loved Machen's works, feeling they contained "Magickal" truth, and put them on the reading list for his students. Other occultists, such as Kenneth Grant, also found Machen an inspiration. Far closer to Machen's personal mystical world view was his effect on his friend Evelyn Underhill, who reflected some of Machen's thinking in her highly influential book Mysticism. (wiki)
