Philadelphia: Lippincott, Grambo & Co, 1854. First American Edition. Hardcover. Fair. Octavo. vi, 364 pages, [2] pages ads, [1]. Light brown? cloth hardcover with blind stamped borders and blind stamped publisher's initials on covers. Gilt stamped title on the spine. Upper right front cover corner bumped. Edge wear and splits to the cloth upper spine. Corners worn. Blank blue and black decorative label on the front paste down. 1854 previous owner pencil inscription on right front end sheet. Author traveled in Canada, New England, the Midwest and made a visit to Richmond, Virginia. He recorded observations on life and customs of places he visited and on slavery in the south.
