Arrow Rock, Missouri: Published By the Author, 1844. Rebound by a master binder. New endpapers. A very clean copy without the usual moderate to heavy foxing. This book was the first medical book published west of the Mississippi River. Dr. John Sappington (1776-1856) used quinine taken from cinchona bark in the treatment of a variety of fevers. He sold his "anti-fever pills" nationwide. 210pp. . First Edition. 1/4 Brown Calf, Marbled Boards. Rebound/No Dust Jacket. Small Octavo.
