Very Good with faintly stained fore edge, former owner's name on front free endpaper. A few stains to contents, heaviest to pp. 17 and 18. In an unclipped dust jacket ($15.00) with typical rubbing, a little wrinkling to back panel, Very Good+. The rare first printing of Rawls' magnum opus, widely regarded as one of the greatest works of 20th century political philosophy.

Synopsis

A Theory of Justice is a widely-read book of political philosophy and ethics by John Rawls. It was originally published in 1971 and revised in both 1975 (for the translated editions) and 1999. In A Theory of Justice, Rawls attempts to solve the problem of distributive justice by utilising a variant of the familiar device of the social contract.
