About This Item

1633 Theodoret of Cyrus BYZANTINE De Providencia Greek Orthodox Early Church

Theodoret of Cyrus was a 5th-century early Christian church bishop. He played a critical role in many Byzantine controversies which led to various ecumenical acts and schisms. He wrote numerous exegetical and dogmatic works, along with a historical look at early ecclesiastics. Theodoret's 'De Providentia' or 'Discourses on Providence' is a collection of apologetic discourses covering God's divine providence. He was also responsible for an important commentary on the Old and New Testaments, as well as notes on heresies and the lives of notable early church monks.

This 1633 Latin and Greek parallel edition was gathered and published by Sebastian Cramoisy.
